Even though it is called Creative Cloud, these applications are installed on your computer and not running in the cloud. Creative Cloud does include some cloud storage for documents and cloud based assets like fonts and templates.

Licensing Information

Carleton licenses Creative Cloud for some users. Faculty and staff who have a license can install Creative Cloud applications on two computers where they are the primary user. This includes personally owned computers.

Installation Instructions

Faculty and Staff

  1. If you don't already have one, create an Adobe ID.
  2. If you are upgrading to a new version of Acrobat or Creative Cloud applications, please uninstall any previous versions of Adobe Creative Cloud applications. You do not need to uninstall Adobe Reader.
  3. If the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app is not installed on your college-owned computer, please install the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app from the K1000
    1. If you are installing on your personal computer, download the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app from Adobe
  4. Click on the next to the clock on your computer (or find the Adobe Creative Cloud application in your Mac Applications folder or Windows Start Menu)
  5. Sign in with your Adobe ID
  6. Click on Apps

  7. Under My Apps and Services, you will see a list of applications that have been assigned to you

  8. Click Install next to the Adobe application you wish to install

    1. Windows users will no longer need to provide their .admin password to install or update their Adobe products.

    2. If you need to install older versions of Adobe applications

      1. Click on the next to the clock on our computer (or found in your Mac Applications folder or Windows Start Menu

      2. Click on the three vertical dots on the upper right corner and select Preferences

      3. Click on Creative Cloud

      4. Click on Show Older Apps

      5. Click on the < in the upper left corner to exit the Preferences

      6. Under My Apps and Services, you will see a list of applications that have been assigned to you

      7. Find the Adobe application you wish to install

      8. Click on the v on the Install button and select manage

      9. Click Other Versions
      10. Select the desired version

Are you unable to download Adobe apps due to Internet connection issues such as no connectivity, limited connection, or not being able to access network drives? Learn how to fix such issues.

When downloading or installing Adobe apps, you might get an error that indicates you have connectivity or stability issues. To fix these issues, try the following solutions in order.

You require an Internet connection to download and update apps. Verify that you are connected to the Internet and click Retry.

Software firewalls restrict access to your computer. Some software firewalls prompt you when a program attempts to access the Internet. Users have reported instances where software/hardware firewall settings caused download errors to occur. The most common error associated with this issue is error 205. Other errors could result due to the firewall’s configuration.

  • If f prompted, allow the Creative Cloud desktop app to access the Internet.
  • If you are not prompted, disable software firewalls temporarily to determine whether they are preventing Internet access. See your firewall software documentation for help.

Note:

If you can’t locate the documentation to temporarily disable the software firewall, disable startup items and services. This should disable most software firewalls. For specific instructions on how to disable startup items and services, select your operating system from the list below:
